Morley Safer Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018

Morley Safer (created November 8, 1931) is a Canadian American reporter and correspondent for CBS News. He’s famous for his long tenure on the newsmagazine “60 Minutes”, the cast of which he joined in December 1970, during the next season of the show. He attended Harbord Collegiate Institute and Clinton Street Public school found at 460 Manning Ave, Toronto Ontario, and briefly attended University of Western Ontario. Safer started his journalism career as a reporter for assorted newspapers in Canada (Woodstock Sentinel Review, London Free Press, and Toronto Telegram) and England (Reuters and Oxford Mail). Afterwards, he joined the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as a correspondent and producer. In 1964, Safer joined CBS News as a London-based correspondent. In 1965, he started the CBS News bureau in Saigon. When the houses were cleared, the Marines burned their thatched roofs with flamethrowers and Zippo lighters. Safer’s report with this occasion was broadcast on CBS News on August 5, 1965, and was among the initial reports to paint a gloomy picture of the Vietnam War. President Lyndon Baines Johnson responded to the report angrily, calling CBS’s president and accusing Safer and his co-workers of having “shat on the American flag.” Specific that Safer was a communist, Johnson also purchased a security check; upon being told that Safer “was not a communist, only a Canadian”, he replied: “Well, I understood he was not an American.” In 1967, Safer was named the London bureau chief, a post he held for 3 years. Safer has been around the system since that time.
