Enya (born Eithne N Bhraonin; Irish pronunciation:[n ni vinan], anglicised as Enya Brennan; 17 May 1961) is an Irish vocalist, instrumentalist, and songwriter who’s among Moya Brennan’s younger sisters. Enya started her musical career in 1980, when she briefly joined her family group Clannad before leaving to perform solo. She got greater recognition for her music in the 1987 BBC show “The Celts”. Soon after, her 1988 album “Watermark” propelled her to additional international acclaim and she became known for her distinctive sound, characterised by voice-layering, folk tunes, synthesised backdrops and ethereal reverberations. She’s performed in 10 languages. She received the planet ‘s bestselling female award in the World Music Awards in 2001. She’s Ireland’s best selling solo musician.
