W. James “Jim” Treliving is a Canadian businessman who, with George Melville, possesses the collective investment portfolio T&M Group of Companies. Treliving has stepped to the public eye recently as among the “dragons” to the Canadian television show “Dragons’ Den”.

Jim Treliving started his profession as a constable with all the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In 1968, while still with the RCMP, Treliving seen the growing popularity of Boston Pizza and bought the rights to start a restaurant in Penticton, British Columbia. While in Penticton, he met George Melville, a chartered accountant. Melville acted as Treliving’s business consultant for four years until 1973, at which time he became Treliving’s associate available. In 1983, Treliving and Melville got the Boston Pizza chain from then-owner Ron Coyle. The two subsequently divested 15 of their eateries to other franchisees, converted one restaurant into a corporate training eatery. By 1995 the chain had grown to 95 eateries in Western Canada with revenues in excess of $110 million (CA$). Jim Treliving is among the “dragons”, or prospective investors in the commercial proposals created by aspiring entrepreneurs. Treliving has been with the show for all eight of its own seasons to date.
