Toni Morrison Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018

Her novels are known for their epic subjects, graphic dialogue, and richly detailed characters. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988 for “Beloved” as well as the Nobel Prize in 1993. On 29 May 2012, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2000, The Bluest Eye was selected as a choice for Oprah’s Book Club. Although her novels usually concentrate on black women, Morrison doesn’t identify her works as feminist. She’s said that she believes “it is off putting to some readers, who may believe that I am involved in composing some sort of feminist tract. I do not subscribe to patriarchy, and I do not believe it should be replaced with matriarchy. I believe it is a issue of fair access, and opening doors to a number of stuff.” Critics, however, have referred to her body of work as exemplifying features of “postmodern feminism” by “changing Euro-American dichotomies by rewriting a history composed by mainstream historians” and by her use of changing narration in Beloved and Paradise. Along with her novels, Morrison has written books for kids with her younger son, Slade Morrison, who was employed as a painter and musician. Slade expired on December 22, 2010, aged 45.

1[referring to Bill Clinton]this is our first "black" President. "Blacker" than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children's lifetime. After all, Clinton displays almost every trope of "blackness": single-parent household, born poor, working-class, saxophone-playing, McDonald's-and-junk-food-loving boy from Arkansas.
2On truth: Not knowing was hard; knowing was harder.
3On mothering: A daughter is a woman that cares about where she came from and takes care of them that took care of her.
4On mothering: Grown don't mean nothing to a mother. A child is a child. They get bigger, older, but grown? What's that supposed to mean? In my heart it don't mean a thing.
5On love: Love is or it ain't. Thin love ain't love at all.
6On personal power: A grown woman did not need safety or its dreams. She was the safety she longed for.
