Produced in NYC into a Swedish mother and also a French father, he holds American, Swedish and French citizenship. He played college basketball for the University of Florida, and was an associate of the Florida Gators’ starting five that won two back-to-back NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournaments in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, the Chicago Bulls picked Noah in the initial round (ninth pick overall) in the 2007 NBA Draft. Joakim is a two time NBA All Star, being chosen as a substitute for the Eastern Conference in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, Noah won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.
