Andre Michael Berto (created September 7, 1983) is a Haitian-American professional fighter. Berto is a two time Welterweight champ. He was named ESPN.com’s 2006 Prospect of the Entire Year. His next fight occurred on February 17, 2007, at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, The Big Apple, against Norberto Bravo of The Contender. Berto conquered Bravo by first round technical knockout after Bravo was knocked down three times, activating the three knockdown rule. On May 19, 2007, Berto conquered Martinus Clay by seventh round technical knockout. On July 27, 2007, in the City Center in Saratoga Springs, Ny. Berto fought Cosme Rivera. Berto was in total control until he was down for the very first time in his profession in round six. He could regain and open up a bad wound over Rivera’s right eye in the seventh round. Rivera stood his ground in the remaining rounds to examine Berto, but Berto won by unanimous decision. Rounds three and eight were described by BoxingScene.com as “round of the year” candidates as both guys went toe to toe with flush strength shots. The ending came when Berto dropped Estrada with an uppercut that has been followed up by way of an enormous right hand.
