Martin D. Burke is a professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. He joined the Department of Chemistry in 2005 as Assistant Professor, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2011, and was promoted to Professor in 2014.
"Marty" Burke was a boxer who fought Gene Tunney and had sparred with Jack Dempsey. Later, he and his wife owned a string of nightclubs in the New Orleans French Quarter.
