Twice won Broadway's Tony Award as Best Choreographer with collaborator Tommy Tune: in 1980 for "A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine;" and in 1983 for "My One and Only." The two collaborators were also nominated together for the latter show as Best Director (Musical).
