George Tyne was born on February 6, 1917 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA as Martin Yarus. He was a director and actor, known for A Walk in the Sun (1945), Friends (1979) and The Love Boat (1977). He was married to Ethel Tyne. He died on March 7, 2008 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Refused to answer questions about his alleged Communist affiliations in an appearance before a subcommittee of the House Un-American Activities Committee in 1955. HE was subsequently indicted for his refusal, but was acquitted.

Began appearing as unbilled soldiers during WWII Hollywood and later began receiving credit just before he was blacklisted in films between the years 1951 and 1964, subsisting on the Broadway stage.

Later turned to directing TV comedy.

Made a Broadway showing in "See the Jaguar" in 1952, which also showcased James Dean. The show closed in three days.
