David Y. Ige (born January 15, 1957) is an American politician from the state of Hawaii. A member of the Democratic Party, Ige serves in the Hawaii State Senate, representing the 16th district. He has served in the Hawaii State Senate since 1994. He previously served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 1986 through 1994.Ige is running against Neil Abercrombie in the Democratic primary for the 2014 gubernatorial election.Ige is married. With his wife, Dawn, the couple have three children. Ige graduated from Pearl City High School and the University of Hawaii.
