Alan Hume was born on October 16, 1924 in London, England as George Alan Hume. He is known for his work on Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983), A Fish Called Wanda (1988) and For Your Eyes Only (1981). He was married to Sheila Hume. He died on July 13, 2010 in Chalfont St. Giles, Buckinghamshire, England.

Prolific British cinematographer, in films as a clapper boy with Korda's Denham Studios from 1942. Chief camera operator with Cineguild in the 1950's, graduating to full cinematographer.Lensed three James Bond films and almost all of the "Carry Ons".

Martin Hume is a Camera Operator, Pauline Hume a Titles Designer and Simon Hume a Focus Puller. Of the next generation Lewis Hume (Simon's son), is a Camera Assistant. Also, Alan's daughter-in-law Zlata (Martin's wife), is Studio Manager at Beaconsfield Film School.
