Minkin came up with the name "The King Biscuit Flower Hour" based on iconic blues harpist Sonny Boy Williamson's blues radio show. Originally titled "King Biscuit Time", sponsored by The King Biscuit Flour Company. Minkin updated to a hip seventies theme by changing Flour to Flower.
