Cosgrove Hall Films was a British animation studio founded by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall; its headquarters was in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester. Cosgrove Hall was once a major producer of children's television and animated programmes; Cosgrove Hall's programmes are still seen in over eighty countries. The company was wound down by its then owner, ITV plc, on 26 October 2009.

Quote
1
[on working with David Jason] When I first met David, I voice tested him for Danger Mouse. There was another actor with him. Actors come in different - personalities, really. This one was really quite loud and brash, and filling the room. David wasn't like that, he was concentrating on the character that was on the page, and he was working hard to get inside the skin of that character, almost from the first time he read the script. I was impressed with that, and I could see that that was what he was doing. The other guy was just being himself. That's what he did on Danger Mouse. It may be at the beginning some people said, 'that's David Jason', but as time went on, in my view, he became the character, and all you remember is Danger Mouse. You don't think, 'oh that's David Jason's voice.

Fact
1
Close friends with David Jason, Jason said he was deeply dedicated to his craft.
2
When former PM Tony Blair offered David Jason a knighthood, he suspected it was a prank, and considered it may have been Cosgrove. He later attended the after party for fifty people, where Jason took the opportunity to announce his second wedding, to rapturous applause and table thumping.
3
An animator, his attic was also his home studio, his place to work away from work. He had a collection of old fairground slot machines in his basement.
4
David Jason named his daughter Sophie Mae after the girl from The BFG (1989) for Cosgrove Hall. He said the name had extra resonance for him, and the two sounded nice when put together.
5
For The Wind in the Willows (1984), Cosgrove Hall wanted David Jason to play Ratty but he preferred Mr Toad. Everyone who had voiced Toad had made him unpleasant, but Jason made him a lovable showoff. After Jason recorded an audition, he got the part.
6
Before Cosgrove Hall settled on Dangermouse, the character was almost called Supermouse.
7
Of all the shows David Jason did with Cosgrove Hall, he considered The Wind in the Willows (1984) classic, successful and the most exciting. He loved the cast Brian Cosgrove had managed to assemble, and believed Michael Hordern one of his heroes. He claimed he could never have stood on stage with him and done Shakespeare and been competitive.
