Timothy Brooks “Tim” Westergren (created December 21, 1965 in Minneapolis, Minnesota), is a cofounder of Pandora Radio. He graduated from Stanford University using a B.A. in political science. In 1999 he began Pandora Media along with two cofounders: Will Glaser and Jon Kraft. The Oakland, Calif., firm went public in 2011, reporting $138 million in sales that fiscal year. As an early job, Westergren and Glaser created the Music Genome Project, a mathematical algorithm to form music. The concept was promoted by Pandora Media. He along with all the other programmers patented the Music Genome Project, the program works on the mathematical algorithm to call an individual ‘s musical preference according to a modest musical sample, and is covered by United States Patent No. 7,003,515. As the firm’s chief strategy officer, Westergren spends nearly all his time traveling the country and collecting feedback from Pandora Radio users.
