Next to editing, he also directed movies, including The Black Stallion Returns.Dalva was nominated for the Academy Award for Film Editing for his work on The Black Stallion (1979).He is an alumnus of Colgate University and member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.Dalva has been elected to membership in the American Cinema Editors.
