Carmen Dillon (25 October 1908, Cricklewood, London, England – 12 April 2000, Hove, East Sussex, England) was an English film and production designer who won an Oscar for the Olivier version of Hamlet (1948).
Educated at Newhall Convent in Essex and at North London Collegiate School. Trained for six years as an architect, before joining the art department at Fox studios in England. Moved to Pinewood in 1938. Something of a rarity, being a female art director in the 1940's, she established a solid reputation through her work with Anthony Asquith (Adventure for Two (1943), Johnny in the Clouds (1945)) and Laurence Olivier (Henry V (1944), Hamlet (1948)).
2
She trained Oscar-winning art directors John Box, Terence Marsh and Roy Walker.
