Rene Angelil, CMOQ (created January 16, 1942) is a Canadian singer and supervisor. He could be the husband and former supervisor of singer Celine Dion. They were known as “Qubec’s Smithtones” from the name of Les Baronnets. Following the dissolution of the group, Anglil and best friend Guy Cloutier started handling musicians. Collectively they handled the livelihood of two successful Qubec entertainers Ren Simard and Ginette Reno, among a number of other pop stars of the time. They parted ways in 1981 to each become solo supervisors. By the end of 1980 (not long after being replaced as Ginette’s supervisor) Ren heard Celine Dion’s demo cassette. In 1987 and 1988, he won the Flix Prize for Supervisor of the Year.
