Paul Robert Potts (created 13 October 1970) is a British tenor. As a vocalist of operatic music, Potts recorded the record “One Chance”, which topped sales charts in nine states. Before winning “Britain’s Got Talent”, Potts was a supervisor at The Carphone Warehouse. He previously served as Bristol city councillor from 1996 until 2003, and additionally had performed in recreational opera from 1999 to 2003.
Potts auditioned for Simon Cowell’s new talent show Britain’s Got Talent in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Wales on 17 March 2007. Potts sang the complete performance of Giacomo Puccini’s “Nessun dorma”, which was condensed for program. His performance of the tune brought looks of amazement from your judges. Potts received a standing ovation in the crowd of 2,000 individuals. The YouTube video clip in the show has had more than 120 million perspectives, making it among the top 100 most viewed YouTube videos. In the semifinal on 14 June 2007, Potts performed the principal poetry of Andrea Bocelli’s “Time To Say Goodbye”. He performed “Nessun dorma” again for his ending on 17 June 2007, along with an encore after he won the contest. Potts got the better of the bookmakers’ co-favourite Connie Talbot, and received the greatest percent of two million votes cast to win 100,000. Then he performed in the Royal Variety Performance on 3 December 2007, in front of Queen Elizabeth II. Collectively they performed a dance routine ending with Potts singing “Nessun Dorma” with Diversity dancing to the tune.
