George Thorogood Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018
George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers have released sixteen studio albums, including two that were accredited Platinum, six which were certified Gold, and have sold 15 million records globally. The group’s early success led to the growth of folk label Rounder Records.
Thorogood’s demo, Better Than the Rest, was recorded in 1974, but wouldn’t be released until 1979. His leading record debut came in 1976 with all the record: George Thorogood & The Destroyers, that was released in 1977. His group, The Destroyers was occasionally called The Delaware Destroyers (or just GT and D). In 1978, Thorogood released his next record together with the Destroyers titled Move It On Over, which contained the Hank Williams remake “Move It On Over”. “Please Set a Date” as well as their remake of the Bo Diddley tune “Who Do You Love?” both followed in 1979. Throughout the late 1970s, Thorogood and his group were based in Boston. He was pals with Jimmy Thackery of the Washington, D.C.-based blues group, The Nighthawks. The Destroyers were employed at The Cellar Door and the Nighthawks at Desperados. At midnight, by previous arrangement, while both groups played Elmore James’ “Madison Blues” in an identical key, Thorogood and Thackery left their nightclubs, met at the center of M Street, traded guitar patch cords and went to play using the opposite group in another club. The link with the Nighthawks was expanded farther, when Nighthawks bass player Jan Zukowski supported Thorogood’s set in the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia, PA on July 13, 1985. In now, Thorogood and the Destroyers also became known for his or her extensive touring schedule, such as the “50/50” tour of 1981, on which the group toured 50 US states in the space of 50 days. After two shows in Boulder, Colorado, Thorogood and his group flew to Hawaii for one show and after that performed a show in Alaska to the next night. Another day the group flew to Washington State, matched their roadies who had their Checker automobile as well as a truck, and continued a one show per state tour for all fifty states in just fifty nighttime.

1 | [observation, 2014, on not yet being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame] If it happens? Great. If it doesn't happen? Great. I can still play 'Gear Jammer' better than anyone on the planet. I'm still working. All of those things are like gravy on top of your meal. Bonuses to your existence. I just wanna put out good product and make a living. |
2 | There are two kinds of music: the blues, and that bullshit they play on MTV. |
