Doctor Kwame Addo-Kufuor (created 14 July 1940) is a Ghanaian politician and doctor. Between June 2008 and 2009, he was Minister for Interior. Addo Kufuor has held many places both in as well as outside the authorities, including as a part time lecturer in the University of Ghana Medical School, Member of National Council of the New Patriotic Party in addition to serving on numerous committees within parliament concerning well-being. When his brother John Kufuor became President in January 2001, Addo Kufuor was named Minister of Defense. Addo Kufuor resigned as Defense Minister in July 2007 so he could seek the presidential nomination of the New Patriotic Party for the 2008 election. In the party congress in December 2007, where the NPP picked its nominee, he received just 0.96% of delegates’s votes (22 votes); Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was elected as the party’s nominee. The NDC needed him to step down from his campaign place before the acceptance of the nomination, but Majority Leader Abraham Ossei Aidooh assured the MPs that Addo Kufuor would address the concerns by stepping down from his campaign place following the acceptance of the nomination
