He’s got Mexican roots on his mother’s side and Native American ancestry on his dad’s. In addition to having an interest in music while a teen, Neil was also thinking about surfing, basketball, baseball, soccer and wrestling. Neil was found while performing with his group Rockandi in 1979, and joined Motley Crue in 1980. Neil had been friends with Tommy Lee in high school. Motley Crue was searching for a lead vocalist at that time and were impressed by Neil after hearing him through Lee. Motley Crue released its first album, Too Fast for Love, exactly the same year. In 1983, Motley Crue released Shout at the Devil, which created the group as a huge act in rock and roll. In 1987, the group recorded the record Girls, Girls, Girls. In 1989, the group released their greatest-selling album, Dr. Feelgood. In February 1992, Motley Crue parted ways with Vince Neil. Neil had taken up Indy racing several years before, frequently turning up at star races. Neil loved the sport so much that he eventually formed Vince Neil Racing. He was racing in the Indy Lights open-wheel developmental chain at that time. Neil retired from racing in 1992 after crashing his car in a race in Long Beach following the 3rd lap.
On 2 May 2002 Vince Neil hosted the sixth annual Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament at the Malibu Country Club. Porn star Jenna Jameson was amongst the guests while Internet sex queen Danni Ashe from Danni's Hard Drive hosted the live auction. Vince was joined by his girlfriend Lia Gherardini on the day.
