Larry Mullen Jr. Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018
Among the four original creators of U2, he’d associate that he described the group as “‘The Larry Mullen Group’ for about ten minutes, then Bono walked in and blew any chance I had of being in charge”. Some of his most well-known contributions to the U2 catalog contain “”40″,” “Zoo Station,” and “Mysterious Ways.” He’s been given, both as part of U2 and in his own right, 22 Grammy awards.
In the first days of U2, his contributions to the group were frequently restricted to fills and drum rolls, however he became more active in the writing of the tunes afterwards, especially in conjunction with Adam Clayton, his associate in the rhythm section, with whom he’s collaborated on solo endeavors. When the group was first being signed to CBS Records, they refused to sign the group unless Mullen was fired. He wasn’t, and consequently, his drumming became more incorporated to the song constructions. His experiences in the Artane Boys Band apparently greatly led to the martial beat featured in a lot of U2’s songs, helping evoke military vision. Through the recording of the record Pop in 1996, Mullen suffered from serious back problems. Record was delayed as a result of operation. As a way to reduce inflammation and pain, he started to use specially designed Pro Mark drumsticks. He uses Yamaha drums and Paiste cymbals. He was put at # 21 in Stylus Magazine’s list of the 50 Best Rock Drummers. Although he sometimes plays keyboards and synthesizer in concerts, Mullen seldom sings during performances. He sometimes performed a cover version of “Dirty Old Town” to the Zoo TV Tour. During live performances of “I’ll Go Crazy If I Do Not Go Crazy Tonight”, Mullen walks around the stage, bringing to the tune with a big djembe strapped around his waist.
