"A good story is a good story, it doesn't really matter when it is set so comedy always works. If its funny it'll work." (Source: interview as part of the Behind the scenes special features on the Dad and Dave DVD)

"I often think theatre actors have technique that some people who have never worked on stage would not have". (Source: interview as part of the Behind the scenes special features on the Dad and Dave DVD)

Call me old-fashioned, but I see actors as a blank canvas - that's what they should be. This whole business of celebrity worship and knowing everything about an actor is detrimental to the craft. I know when I go to the movies nowadays, I often know so much about the people on screen, through magazines and interviews and celebrity gossip, that I find it hard to overcome that and relate to the character they're playing. That's something that, as an actor, I'll always avoid.
