Matthew Jay Roach (created June 14, 1957) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter, famous for directing the “Austin Powers” movies and “Meet the Parents”. Roach was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where his dad proved to be a military worker. He graduated from Eldorado High School in 1975. He also directed the HBO movie Game Change about the 2008 McCain/Palin campaign, which premiered March 2012 as among the most viewed movies in HBO history. The movie also gave him his third and fourth triumph Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Dramatic Special & Excellent Miniseries or Movie, along with a Golden Globe and Peabody Award. Roach is married to Susanna Hoffs of The Bangles, with whom he got two sons. Roach was raised a Southern Baptist, and converted to Judaism before marrying Hoffs.
