His first appearance on screen was background in Home Alone III. Working in a crowd of over 500 extras on location at O'Hare International Airport, Jerod was spotted by a first team member who saw him in a performance of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest". He took Jerod to the director, and after a quick wardrobe change, he was featured on camera.

Director Jason Paul Collum dedicated "October Moon" to the memory of actress Donna Lynn (Stark) Shehorn who passed away during production. An Eastern Illinois University alumna (circa John Malkovich, Joan Allen), Donna shared the stage with Jerod, notably playing the role of "Nurse Ratched" opposite Jerod as "Billy Bibbit" in an award winning production of "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" (info available "October Moon" DVD extras).
