Michael Chiarello (created January 26, 1962 in Red Bluff, California, United States) is an American star chef focusing on Italian-influenced California cuisine. He hosts the cooking show, “Easy Entertaining with Michael Chiarello”, on the Food Network and hosts “NapaStyle” to the Fine Living Network. In springtime 2013, Michael is coming to San Francisco’s waterfront along with his latest restaurant, a Spanish theory on Pier 5.
Born to an Italian-American family, Chiarello climbed to prominence in a youthful age. The following year, he started The Grand Bay Hotel in Coconut Grove, Florida, and Toby’s Bar and Grill. After in the 1980s, Chiarello moved back to his home state of California, making his house in the Napa Valley. Among his first efforts was chef at The Heritage Restaurant in Turlock which failed and went broke. He started the Tra Vigne restaurant, making a menu affected by the cuisine of his family’s native Calabria and rife with local seasonal ingredients. He’s since served as executive chef in numerous American eateries including Caffe Museo in San Francisco, Ajax Tavern and Lump’s in Aspen, Colorado, and Bistecca in Scottsdale, Arizona. His first cooking show, Season by Season, debuted on PBS in 2001. He hosted two more show for PBS, Michael Chiarello’s Napa and Michael Chiarello’s Napa: Casual Cooking within another couple of years before moving to the Food Network to host Easy Entertaining in 2003. Chiarello was contained as a contestant on Top Chef Masters, winning his preliminary round and progressing to the championship round, placing second to Rick Bayless (first place).
