Walter Greenwood (17 December 1903 – 13 September 1974) was an English novelist, best known for the socially influential novel Love on the Dole (1933).
English writer, whose 1932 novel "Love on the Dole" detailed the plight of the Lancashire poor during the depression. It was later turned into a successful play and was filmed in 1941. Greenwood wrote further socially-conscious novels which never quite matched the success of his earlier work. He also set up a movie production company, Greenpark, in 1938, which made films for the British government.
