With eleven patents in the area, Martin Cooper could be acknowledged as an innovator in radio spectrum management. While at Motorola in the 1970s, Cooper imagined the very first handheld mobile phone (different from your car phone) and headed the team that developed it and brought it to market. He’s considered the “father of the cell phone” and can also be mentioned as the very first person ever to produce a hand-held cellular phone call in public. Martin Cooper is cofounder of numerous successful communications businesses along with his lovely wife and company partner Arlene Harris; also called the “first lady of wireless.” He’s now co founder and Chairman of Dyna LLC, in Del Mar, California.
