Damien Hirst Bio/Wiki, Net Worth, Married 2018

He’s the most visible person in the group called the Young British Artists (or YBAs), who commanded the art scene in Britain during the 1990s. He’s globally famous, and is apparently the UK’s most affluent living artist, with his riches valued at 215m in the 2010 Sunday Times Rich List. During the 1990s his career was closely linked with the collector Charles Saatchi, but raising clashes came to a head in 2003 as well as the relationship finished.

Passing is a fundamental topic in Hirst’s works. He became well-known for a number of artworks in which dead creatures (including a shark, a sheep as well as a cow) are maintained—occasionally having been dissected—in formaldehyde. He’s also made “whirl paintings,” created on a spinning ring-shaped surface, and “spot paintings”, which are rows of at random coloured rings created by his helpers.

The auction surpassed all forecasts, increasing 111million ($198million), breaking the record to get a one-artist auction along with Hirst’s own record with 10.3million for “The Golden Calf”, an animal with 18-carat gold horns and hooves, preserved in formaldehyde.

In many cases since 1999, sources for particular of Hirst’s works have been challenged and fought as plagiarized, both in written posts by journalists and artists, and, in a single case, through legal proceedings which led to an out-of-court settlement.

#Quote
1I think money is as complicated as love. I probably have a fear that money might turn out to be more important than art.
2I think anything done super-well is art. And it could be a great meal or it could be a great meeting. Artists make art from what's around them.
#Fact
1English artist, whose sculpture "For The Love of God", a human skull enrolled with diamonds, was sold for 50 million pound. This makes him the most expensive living artist (30 August 2007).
2Lives with his wife Maia and their three sons Connor (born in 1995), Francis (born in 2002) and Cyrus (born in 2007) in a 300 year old remote farmhouse in north Devon.
3After his father, a car salesman, had left the family, he was raised by his mother Mary alone, saying she lost control of him when he was young.
