John Ignatius Quinn, often called Sen Quinn, is an Irish businessman and conglomerate. In 2008 he was the wealthiest man in Ireland, but in 2011 he filed for bankruptcy. The “Sunday Times Rich List” in 2008 estimated his private value to be 4.722 billion or 3.73 billion, thus making him the wealthiest man in Ireland. “Forbes” magazine’s 2008 Abundant List recorded him again as the richest man in Ireland, in 164th place amongst the most affluent people on the planet. His net worth, by February 2008, was estimated at $6.0 billion – or about 3.084 billion. In 2007 the group made a pretax gain of 439m. Sean Quinn and the Quinn family no more have any part in the management, operations or possession of the Quinn Group. Quinn was declared insolvent on 11 November 2011 in Northern Ireland; this was annulled on appeal however he was declared insolvent in the Republic of Ireland on 16 January 2012.
