Eli L. Broad (produced June 6, 1933) is an American philanthropist and entrepreneur. He’s the sole man to found two Fortune 500 firms in various sectors. In 2001, the Broads created the Broad Medical Research Program to fund advanced research to improve the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. In 2003, Eli and Edythe Broad gave the $100 million founding present to make The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The next year, they gave another $100 million, as well as in 2009, they gave another $400 million to create an endowment to help make the institute long-term. The Broads declared Nov. 14, 2013, they were giving an added $100 million to the institute.
