Charles Dunstone first started selling mobile phones from his flat on Marylebone Road in 1989. He was 25 years old and had 6000 of economies to begin his company, having preceding worked at NEC as a sales executive. It was whilst working at NEC that he first seen the possibility of mobile phones as well as the future of cellular connections. During those times, handsets were large, cumbersome and largely bought by big business and large organizations. Corporate customers were well catered for but small businesses, the self employed and general people had nowhere to go. Dunstone realized that mobile phones would finally become omnipresent and named his business The Carphone Warehouse (CPW) to serve this bigger marketplace. In May 2008, Best Buy, an American transnational consumer electronics corporation, and CPW consented to develop a fresh firm, Best Buy Europe.
