Bruce Ratner (created January 23, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American property developer and minority owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. Ratner’s group beat out an ownership group headed by Charles Kushner and former New Jersey governor Jon Corzine. Ratner relocated the Nets to Nyc, especially to construct an arena in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn even though there was want to maintain them in New Jersey and powerful neighborhood demonstrations to keep them out of Brooklyn. This job will be constructed by Ratner’s firm, Forest City Ratner. The site of the arena is next to the website that Walter O’Malley wanted to use to get a brand new stadium for the Brooklyn Dodgers in the early 1950s. (O’Malley’s Strategy was rejected by the town, leading to the Dodgers relocating to La in 1958.) In accordance with Ratner, taking Prokhorov as majority owner “gives us a partner who adds to the fiscal strength of the endeavor. Mikhail will have principal accountability for the basketball part and we shall have principal responsibility for the stadium as well as the real estate.” On May 11, 2010, the selling of the Nets was accepted by the NBA.
