Rayner Stephens Unwin CBE (23 December 1925 – 23 November 2000) was an English publisher, who served as the chairman of the publishing firm George Allen & Unwin, which had been founded by his father Sir Stanley Unwin.
English publisher who had the honor of proofreading J.R.R. Tolkien's books 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' for their first publication. He was also responsible for splitting the latter into 3 books as it was too large as a single novel.
