Riddick Bowe net worth & biography:
Riddick Lamont Bowe (created August 10, 1967) is an American fighter. He’s a former two time world heavyweight champ, having first won the WBA, WBC and IBF titles in 1992, thereby becoming undisputed heavyweight champ. Bowe’s second reign as heavyweight champ was in 1995 when he won the WBO title.
Bowe became the very first fighter to get the better of Evander Holyfield when he beat him in 1992 for the undisputed world heavyweight title. He afterwards became the very first fighter to knock Holyfield outside, when he beat him in their rematch in 1995. Bowe was ranked as the 21st best heavyweight ever in a 2010 post by BoxingScene.
Highly seen trainer Eddie Futch took on the task of developing Bowe as he saw the gift. Eddie would say that Bowe had more possible than any fighter he’d ever prepared. Turning professional in March 1989, he knocked out newcomer (but future #1 competitor) Lionel Butler. His manager Rock Newman kept Bowe active, fighting 13 times in 1989, defeating journeymen, the most famous being Garing Lane, whom he beat twice. From the end of 1990 he’d fought 8 times. In March 1991 he beat some rugged opening rounds to knock out the 1984 Olympic Super Heavyweight Gold medalist Tyrell Biggs. Yet his picture endured when in his next fight, foxy boxing ex-champion Tony Tubbs, whose own career had endured with drugs and weight issues, seemed to outbox and outsmart Bowe, and then possess the judges award Bowe having a unanimous decision which was jeered loudly from the group. In August 1991 he knocked out future champion Bruce Seldon in one round, as well as in July 1992 fought Pierre Coetzer within an eliminator, knocking out the long-lasting South African in 7 rounds.
