Has been up for parole thirteen consecutive times since 1982, the last time in 2007. Although she is continually denied, she is considered the most likely candidate for parole of the remaining Manson Family members who are incarcerated.
Her father, Paul Van Houten, is an automobile auctioneer, and her mother, Jane, is a teacher. They divorced in 1963. She took the divorce very hard, but describes them as loving and concerned parents who gave her a happy childhood and bear no blame for her crimes.
