Paula Poundstone (created December 29, 1959) is an American stand-up comedian, writer, performer, interviewer and commentator, known for her distinctive type of ad-lib observational humor. Poundstone can be an accomplished writer. Her first novel was printed in hard cover by Crown, 2006: There’s Nothing In This Publication Which I Meant To Say (having a foreword by Mary Tyler Moore) and is still in launch on sound (Highbridge) and in paperback book. Algonquin is defined to publish her second novel in the Autumn of 2015. Paula wrote the column, “Hey, Paula!” for “Mother Jones” (1993–1998), and posts for “The La Times”, “Glamour” and “Entertainment Weekly”, amongst others. Additionally an enthusiastic reader, Poundstone has become the National Spokesperson for the American Library Association’s “United for Libraries” since 2007. They can be a citizens support group which works to boost funds and consciousness for his or her local libraries. Poundstone is #88 on Comedy Central’s 2004 list of the 100 best stand ups ever, and #7 on Maxim magazine’s list of “Worst Comics Of Time”. In 1992 she became the very first girl to be encouraged to do standup comedy in the prestigious White House correspondents dinner.
