Ran Barker grew up on his families Farm/Ranch in West Texas. He graduated from Tarleton State University/Texas A&M and moved to Los Angeles in 1989 to pursue an acting career. He studied film at UCLA and AFI and appeared in over 100 national commercials, feature films and TV series before joining Warner Bros. in 1989 to became Department head of ...
Ran grew up in Hodges, Texas ( pop 27 people). There was only a cotton gin and a church. His grandparents farm was a mile away and he grew up working in the fields. In the summers, he had to hoe cotton and in the winter he helped strip the cotton.

In 1979, Ran's was a senior at Hawley High in Hawley, Texas. The high school was very strict and did not allow dancing. Ran and his friends went to the school board to try and get a Prom for their senior year and even quoted from the bible, but were shot down. They held a private prom outside the city limits in a barn. The story made the news and papers. A few years later, a film came out called "Footloose". The story was so close to Ran's struggles to get a prom that they consulted a lawyer to see what they could do. The writer of the film lived just a few hours from Ran's hometown and said he took the story from news articles, but has never said it was based on any certain place or person. The character in "Footloose" was named Ren.

To break the boredom of long nights of production on the WB main lot, Ran played basketball with George Clooney, Dean Cain and many others.

Ran and 5 friends started the first social men's club (Deltas) at Tarleton State University to lure a National Fraternity to TSU. The club spawned several other clubs who were looking for national affiliation. Deltas became a colony of Kappa Alpha Order and brought the first National Social Fraternity and Sorority to TSU and began the Social Greek system that exists today.

Ran appeared on the 10th season of "Dallas" as a farm hand. Years later, he was the WB Administrator of the "Dallas Reunion". The producers wanted him to make an appearance on "Dallas Reunion" but he could not get the time off from the other shows he worked with to do the Reunion.
