He was married to Frances Lawson Bouis. He died on February 26, 1960 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, USA.
Was the top gag writer for Hal Roach in the 1920's, as well as making significant contributions, as a scenarist, to Harold Lloyd and Buster Keaton comedies. Harbaugh had also previously worked as an actor at Biograph and continued to appear in small-part supporting roles until the mid-1950's.
