Sam Houston Andrew III (born December 18, 1941, in Taft, California) is an American musician, singer, songwriter, composer, artist and founding member and guitarist of Big Brother and the Holding Company. During his career as musician and composer, Andrew has had three platinum albums and two hit singles. His songs have been used in numerous major motion picture soundtracks and documentaries.
He was the recipient of the High Times Award from High Times Magazine in 2001. He was scheduled to fly from San Diego to New York City on September 11, 2001 but his flight was canceled.
