Nicholas Gleaves is an English actor best known for his role as Rick Powell in the television drama series Playing the Field. He also appeared as Tom Bedford in The Chase, from 2006-07.Gleaves starred as scientist James Whittaker in the BBC TV series 'Survivors' in 2008, and returned for the following 2010 series in a larger role. In 2010 he also appeared in an episode of Foyle's War.He stars as the ex-husband in the BT advert series, and also played Richard Whitman, Director of Education in Waterloo Road in 2011. He plays Andy Roper in the ITV police drama Scott and Bailey which stars his wife Lesley Sharp. They have been married since 1994, have two sons and live in London. He is a supporter of Bolton Wanderers.
